The Story
Stauntonia hexaphylla
This elegant, vigorous, evergreen climber has it all: foliage, flower and fruit. Beautiful, fragrant blooms, creamy-white tinged with purple-violet, cover the vine April to June. Then in summer, walnut-shaped, purple fruits arrive, sweet enough to eat out of hand. While both male and female plants exist, our female plants will set fruit without pollination, and any seeds will be sterile.
It thrives in the Pacific Northwest and in warmer climates. Vines need shelter from cold winds. Hardy to USDA Zones 7.
